FC Wichita moves into Heartland Conference

WICHITA — For the first two seasons of existence, FC Wichita has been in the middle of of the South Region, in the Southwest Conference. That changes in 2019. FC Wichita will now compete in the Heartland Conference in the WPSL.

While not affiliated with the men’s conference, it will provide some formality to the women’s side.

Sure, FC Wichita, in the Southwest. Things worked out. It was centrally located for the most part, other than the trips south to Dallas a couple times a season. There was Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Though, the travel seemed a bit out of sorts compared to the men’s squad, the ladies powered through.

Instead of south, the travel will be centrally located. FC Wichita’s first match is against Elite Girls Academy, which resides in Omaha, Nebraska. They’ll also travel to Belleville, Illinois to play Fire and Ice WPSL. Trips to Saint Louis, Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri are on the docket as well.

FC wichita begins their regular season schedule on the road in Omaha, Nebraska on May 19. The complete schedule will be released at a future date.

They return home for their first match at the newly renovated Stryker Soccer Stadium on June 8 against SFG Lady Demize, the women’s club of the Demize NPSL.

FC Wichita is 11-7-2 overall in their two first two seasons.
