FC Wichita goes into the second half of the season going with one goal in mind, win a conference championship. This goal seems far more attainable following two big wins over Oklahoma City FC and a split with Texas Spurs FC.
FC Wichita (4-1-0) travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on Fortuna Tulsa (0-1-1) for the first time ever on Saturday night. Fortuna Tulsa, who is in their inaugural season, is still searching for their first win in franchise history.
FC Wichita enters the game following a 2-1 win over Oklahoma City FC highlighted by a last minute, game-winning goal by Dora Gallo. The FC Wichita women have scored 16 goals in their five games this season.
Fortuna Tulsa is still searching for answers, losing game one 0-1 to Oklahoma City FC and drawing FC Dallas with a last-minute goal. While the draw with Dallas feels good for the young team, they will be hungry for more as the season progresses.
The all-time series between these two teams sits at 0-0-0 as this is the first meeting between these two teams.
Looking forward, FC Wichita still must face FC Dallas twice, Fortuna Tulsa twice, and face the Little Rock Rangers for the second time this year. Saturday’s nights contest with Fortuna Tulsa is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff time at the University of Tulsa soccer stadium.
PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR
Fortuna Tulsa: GK Hannah Warner
Despite not having anything in the win column, Fortuna Tulsa has had good goal tending. They have only allowed two goals this season, one in each of their two games. If Warner keeps it up, Tulsa could end up with a decent first season.
FC Wichita: F Dora Gallo
If you have not seen or heard about the sensation that is Dora Gallo, you are missing out! Gallo scored her first goal of the year off a corner kick rebound in Oklahoma City on a 20-yard rocket. Her header in the last minutes of the home match against Oklahoma City FC lifted FC Wichita to their fourth win of the year.
